Why Senate postponed ex-governor rotimi amaechi's ministerial screening

Senate screens ministerial nominees on October 13, 2015Amaechi will not be interviewed by the legislators today due to the inability of the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to submit its report on the petition against him.

The Nigerian Senate has postponed
the ministerial screening of former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi to today, October 15, 2015.
Amaechi was supposed to be screened today, October 14, along with nine other nominees.
However, he will not be interviewed by the legislators today due to the inability of the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to submit its report on the petition against him.
Chairman, Senator Sam Anyanwu explained that the members of the committee were “too tired to meet” after Tuesday’s plenary session which was adjourned late.
He however said that the committee would meet on Wednesday to finalize the report on Amaechi and submit it on Thursday.
The former governor’s nomination was challenged by three Senators from his state who cited the allegations of corruption levelled against him.
The committee however decided that the charges couldn’t serve as grounds to prevent Amaechi’s confirmation as minister as the case was still pending in court.
